Governor Larry Hogan and the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs are taking proactive steps to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Maryland.
Per Executive Order by Governor Larry Hogan, Maryland State government is now operating at Elevated Level II, which mandates teleworking of State employees to the greatest extent possible and the closure of most State office buildings to the public. Some State offices may be open, but only for pre-established appointments.
Starting on Friday, March 13, the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs Office of the Secretary in Annapolis will be closed to the public. Across the state, the Department will remain operational to the extent possible by email and by remote response to voice mail.
The following program-specific changes will be in effect until further notice. The changes are in effect solely to minimize the spread of the virus. As this is a fluid and ever-evolving situation, please check our website for updates and changes to the following information.
The Department remains diligent in its efforts to serve our veterans and the community at this time. We appreciate your understanding of changes.
Service and Benefits Program:
Most service offices are open. They are open by appointment only. Some service offices may be closed if they are co-located in county buildings which have been designated as closed. Please call in advance to confirm whether or not the service office you wish to visit is open. ALL appointments will be screened in advance to assess for COVID-19 symptoms. Expect to be asked: (1) In the last 30 days, have you traveled outside the United States? (2) Have you been exposed to anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19? (3) Do you have a fever?
