Celebrating 25 Years...

Our Services

Provide the ideal setting, sensitive and resident-oriented staff, and extensive family support, Charlotte Hall Veterans Home is the right choice for those veterans who seek to regain their quality of life after a disabling accident or illness.

Charlotte Hall's level of staffing provides the degree of programming expected from a rehabilitation hospital. Unlike other comprehensive rehabilitation programs, residents are not required to be ambulatory or be able to sustain intensive multidisciplinary daily therapy to be admitted.

The Rehabilitation staff strives to help residents achieve their optimum level of function and return to an independent life as quickly as possible. Weekly team meetings are conducted to review the residents' progress and goals and offer programs that help residents and families take greater control of their recovery and rehabilitation.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS
An attending physician is available onsite weekly and is available 24 hours a day for emergencies. The facility also employs a Medical Director to provide medical oversight and contracts with a Dentist, Optometrist, and Podiatrist to provide care to our Residents.

Residents have access to the outpatient VA clinic here on site and transportation to the VA Medical Center in Washington, DC at no additional cost.

RESIDENTS
In addition to long-term and primary medical care, the Home makes available diagnostic and medical services such as psychiatric, dental, podiatry, optometry, laboratory and radiology that are furnished to residents by outside providers. The Home offers full range of on-site rehabilitation services including Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. With one of the largest Rehab gym's in the area and state-of-the-art equipment, our Rehab staff strives to help residents achieve their optimum level of function and return to an independent life as quickly as possible.

PHYSICAL THERAPY
Physical Therapists strive to restore our residents to their highest possible level of function by applying scientific principles to prevent, identify, alleviate or compensate for neuro-musculoskeletal dysfunction.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Occupational Therapists assist our residents in adjusting to their social and physical environments. Using therapeutic activities, our therapists adapt tasks and modify the environment to enhance each resident's ability to function.

SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY
Speech-Language Pathologists address communication problems as well as swallowing dysfunction. The focus is on improving speech-language expression, comprehensive, and oral motor skills for more accurate speech production.

RESPITE CARE is the provision of short-term, temporary relief to those who are caring for family members who might otherwise require permanent placement in a facility outside the home.
Even though many families take great joy in providing care to their loved ones so that they can remain at home, the physical, emotional and financial consequences for the family caregiver can be overwhelming without some support, such as respite. Respite provides the much needed temporary break from the often exhausting challenges faced by the family caregiver.
