Can the
residents bring personal effects with them when they are
admitted to Charlotte Hall?
Yes. We encourage our
Residents to bring in personal belongings to give the room a
more home-like atmosphere.

Does
Charlotte Hall have cable television access?
Yes. All of our rooms have
access to cable television. For our Assisted Living Residents,
there is a small monthly fee for cable television. For the
Nursing Home Residents, cable is included in the daily room
rate.

Can the
residents bring their own furniture?
Yes. Though space is limited,
the Residents are permitted to bring in small furniture as space
allows.

Does the
Veterans Administration pay for all of the resident's care at
Charlotte Hall?
No. Charlotte Hall Veterans
Home is a state Nursing Facility. Although the Veterans
Administration does pay a daily subsidy, there is cost to our
Residents. Do not let the cost of care discourage you from
pursuing your interest in Charlotte Hall. If you qualify, we do
accept Medicaid, which is a state funded medical assistance
programs that helps to cover the cost of care.

Can the
residents have a private room?
Yes. Private rooms are given
to Residents who have a medical necessity first (i.e.
isolation). After that, the Residents who have the ability to
pay for a private room receive one. Medicaid will not pay for a
private room unless there is a medical need for the Resident to
have one.

Does the
Veterans Administration pay for the resident's medications?
No. Residents in our
long-term care Facility are responsible for the cost of
medications. If you have a prescription plan, our pharmacy may
participate in that. Please call them to make sure.

Can the
residents wear their personal clothing?
Yes. Residents are permitted
to wear their personal clothing. The Facility can launder his
clothes or the family can launder them.

Are
spouses of veterans eligible for admission to Charlotte
Hall Veterans Home?
Yes, a non-veteran spouse may now be eligible for admission if
the veteran spouse meets our eligibility criteria.

If a
married couple are both eligible for admission, can they
share a room if they are admitted to Charlotte Hall?
Yes. As long as both veterans
require the same level of care (Assisted Living, Comprehensive,
or Alzheimer's Unit).

What are
visiting hours?
Visiting hours are from 10:00
a.m. to 8:00 p.m. 7 days a week.

Can
residents go home over the weekend for a visit?
As long as the Resident's
physician feels that it is safe for the Resident to go out for
leave and as long as the family feels comfortable doing so, we
encourage families to take the residents home for a visit.

Does
Charlotte Hall provide all of the transportation for the
residents to doctor's appointments?
Charlotte Hall provides
transportation to and from the Veterans Administration Medical
Center in Washington, DC.

Can the
residents continue to see their own personal physicians
while residing at Charlotte Hall?
Yes. The resident or his
family is responsible for arranging or providing transportation
to and from physicians outside of the facility.
