March 8, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former Veterans Home Commissioner, Col. Mary Boyd, who passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017.

Col. Boyd retired from the USAF after nearly 30 years of service to her country. During her service she earned a Legion of Merit medal, three Meritorious Service medals, and Air Force Commendation medal. She retired as the Director of Nursing at Andrews AFB and was featured in a book, The Path We Tread, recognizing the contributions of black nurses. Col. Boyd later served on former President Bush’s Advisory Committee on Women Veteran’s Affairs and on the Maryland Veterans Home Commission for 22 years. She will be greatly missed!
